MERCOSUR: New trade opportunities without tariffs

  • Home | News | MERCOSUR: New trade opportunities without tariffs

Global trade is undergoing a dynamic period of change and uncertainty. That's precisely why every simplification of international trade represents a crucial opportunity.

From 1 May 2026, the provisional implementation of the MERCOSUR trade agreement between the European Union and the South American states (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay) is expected to commence. This agreement opens up new markets for EU companies under significantly more favourable terms.

What does that mean in practice?

  • Most industrial goods will be exempt from customs duties.
  • Tariffs on sensitive commodities will be gradually reduced.
  • Selected products will be imported under preferential terms within quotas

The key condition for utilising these benefits is the correct demonstration of preferential origin of goods in accordance with the rules set out in the agreement.

How can #CJZ help you?
We will help you identify specific customs benefits for your goods, verify origin conditions, and ensure correct process setup so that you can make the most of new business opportunities – without risks or unnecessary costs.

Detailed information on rates, quotas and the schedule for their reduction can be found in the EUR system – EUR-Lex – 22026A00184 – EN – EUR-Lex .

We'd be happy to guide you through it.
